<![CDATA[Top TV comedy shows profiled: Trailer Park Boys]]>Thu, 27 Mar 2014 07:31:03 GMThttp://haroproductions.com/blog/top-tv-comedy-shows-profiledtrailer-park-boysA Canadian comedy mockumentary television series about the misadventures of a group trailer park residents living in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Trailer Park Boys is a series about everything that can go wrong with life. It revolves around Ricky (Robb Wells) and Julian (John Paul Tremblay), two guys whose lives were molded by their typical experiences growing up in the Trailer Park like stealing, fighting, smoking, drinking, scamming and listening to Van Halen. The Boys have had their share of trouble with the law and there's no surprise that most of their adult lives have been spent behind the bars.
The series was created and directed by Mike Clattenburg which became the continuation of Clattenburg's 1999 film of the same name and premiered in 2001 on the Showcase television network. In 2007, the planned final season ended and on December 7, 2008, the supposed-to-be final episode '' Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys was premiered as a special on Showcase ending the initial run of the series. Countdown to Liquor Day (second film) was released on September 25, 2009 in Canada and after issues in production, the third film has finally been completed and will be released in April 2014 . The show became very successful in many countries and with the continued international interest in the original series, Season 8 production started last July 2013 and will be aired this year. And during the first quarter of 2014, the pre-production of the 9th season has begun.

<![CDATA[Top TV comedy shows profiled: The IT Crowd]]>Wed, 26 Mar 2014 11:38:55 GMThttp://haroproductions.com/blog/top-tv-comedy-shows-profiledthe-it-crowdA British sitcom by Channel 4 which revolves around the comedic adventures of three technical support workers set in the London offices of the fictional Reynholm Industries. It written by Graham Linehan, produced by Ash Atalla. Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, Chris Morris and Matt Berry are lead roles of the show.
The show is the surreal look at what it's really like to be the underof every company. Under the corporate high-rise towers which are full of wonderful lively people with one success story after another and while others work in fantastic surroundings, there are three employees struggling to work below ground in the dark and horrible basement, trying to make it into normal workplace as possible.
The It Crowd focuses on these three IT staff: the dorky genius but naive Maurice Moss, the workshy and lazy peevish co-worker Roy Trenneman and their head/relationship manager Jen Barber who knows nothing about their field of work and doesn't even know the difference between hardware and software. It also focuses on Denholm Reynholm and his son Douglas which are the bosses of Reynholm Industries.
The comedy premiered on February 3, 2006 and has four series of six episodes each. In 2011, Graham Linehan announced that there won't be a fifth series but a special episode. The final episode aired on September 27, 2013. The show has won awards from the BAFTA's, the International Emmys and the Rose d'Or television entertainment awards. The IT Crowd also received an award from the fan voted Comedy.co.uk Awards organised by the British Comedy Guide and gained individual awards from British Comedy Awards and Irish Filam and Television Awards.

<![CDATA[Top TV comedy series profiled: Peep Show]]>Tue, 25 Mar 2014 04:55:17 GMThttp://haroproductions.com/blog/top-tv-comedy-series-profiled-peep-showA British sitcom following the lives of Mark (David Mitchell) and Jez (Robert Webb), two socially dysfunctional roommates from their twenties to thirties who have nothing in common but having a normal life and a flat in Croydon, South London. Since 2003, it has been on Channel 4 and the show's eight series in late 2012 makes it the longest-returning comedy in Channnel 4's history. The sitcom also uses a unique filming style and shows the point of view shots being able to hear the main characters thoughts and internal monologues as voice-overs. The programme is written by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain with Mitchell and Webb's additional material amongs others.
Mark Corrigan has steady employment for most of the series and Jeremy "Jez" Usbourne is an unemployed aspiring musician.Mark is financially secure but is always shy and socially inept with a cynical attitude which makes him the total opposite of Jeremy. Jeremy, on the other hand, usually has a much more positive and vigorous perspective on the world, yet his declared talent as a musician has to be recognised. He is more successful with the opposite sex than Mark but he is not as famous or interesting as he would like to think himself.
Peep Show is considered to be a cult television show. Early reviews called it "promising" and recognised it had "the sniff of a cult favourite". It was claimed that the series in years to come, Peep Show will "be seen as the pinnacle of comedy it obviously is." by Jane Simon of the Mirror. It also won several awards including the titles "The Best Returning British TV Sitcom 2007" and "Comedy of the Year 2008" in The Comedy.co.uk Awards. The Guardian newspaper described it as "the best comedy of the decade" while The Times praised the show's "scorching writing" and named it the 15th best TV show of the 2000s.

<![CDATA[Top TV comedy shows profiled: Father Ted]]>Fri, 21 Mar 2014 10:39:46 GMThttp://haroproductions.com/blog/top-tv-comedy-shows-profiledfather-tedA crazy sitcom about three exiled priests who live in craggy island of Ireland with their housekeeper. It was produced by Hat Trick Productions and broadcast by Channel 4. Father Ted was created and written by Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan. It has three series and a christmas special which was premiered April 21, 1995. Father Ted was also aired in Ireland and Australia.
