Friends was created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. The premiere was aired last September 22, 1994 on NBC and lasted for ten season with consistent raking in top ten in primetime ratings. The series finale which was aired May 6, 2004 was a big hit, around 52.5 million American watched the show, making it the fourth most watched series finale in television history and the most watched episode of the decade.
Friends became one of the most popular sitcoms of all time with positive reviews throughout its run. It's one of the finest shows in television history according to critics and was ranked #21 on the list of the 50 greatest TV shows of all time by TV Guide. "The One with the Prom Video" episode was ranked #100 on TV Guide's Greatest Episode of All Time in 1997. And in 2013, Friends was included on the Writers Guild of America's 101 Best Written TV Series of All Time fillinf it's spot at #24. The series also won numerous awards with 63 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, winning six. Friends also received one American Comedy Award, one GLAAD Media Award, one Golden Globe Award, three Logie Awards, six People's Choice Awards, one Satellite Award and one Screen Actors Guild Award.
