A British mockumentary sitcom following staff and the manager as they continue their lives while their office faces closure which lead the company to downsize its branches.

Gervais also stars the series as the main character David Brent, the manager of low intelligence and non sense humor who's convinced that he is the best and most entertaining boss of all time. It's first broadcast of the first season in the UK on BBC Two on July 9,2001 has low ratings that almost let to cancellation but did not stop the show to become one of the most successful of all British comedy exports.
Today the show has been sold in more than 65 countries and it even have remakes in different versions and different languages around the world. In 2001, The Office won the Best New TV Comedy award at the British Comedy Awards and in 2002 the show once again won the award while Gervais won the Best TV Comedy Actor award. The following year, The Office was the first British comedy to be nominated and win a Golden Globe Award (Best Television Series: Musical or Comedy). Ricky Gervais also received the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in Television Series: Musical of Comedy for his role. He was also the first ever British actor to receive such award in Golden Globe.
The series made two-part christmas specials which was nominated for two Emmys in the categories of ''Outstanding Made for Television Movie'' and ''Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special'' in 2005.
