Douglas Gene "Doug" Stanhope is an American stand-up comedian who was born March 25, 1967. He is also an actor and author recognized for his abrasive, controversial comedy style and libertarian political views. Stanhope is admired by his fans for his abrasive and dangerous approach to comedy. And contemporaries to the works of Bill Hicks, George Carlin and Lenny Bruce. Stanhope blends cringe comedy with political satire and grotesque imagery. And such acts often leads to audience walkouts.

Doug Stanhope was a high school dropout and  began his comedy career in Las Vegas in 1990. He presented in a number of major comedy festivals which include the Chicago Comedy Festival, the Montreal Just For Laughs, US Comedy Arts Festival held in Aspen Colorado and Edinburgh Festival Fringe held in Scotland.

He had some breakthroughs in several international and national comedy TV specials such as Live Floor Show where he claimed that his appearance was driven by ecstasy. Stanhope also became the co-host of The Man Show in its 5th and 6th season. He even hosted his own radio show aired on SIRIUS Satellite Radio. He also hosted the Girls Gone Wild: America Uncovered. He was criticized and hooted by audience for several times because of his vulgar behaviours which lead to the cancellation of some of his shows.
