Only Fools and Horses was created and written by John Sullivan. Seven series were originally broadcast from 1981 to 1991 in the United Kingdon's BBC One with random Chritmas specials until 2003. the show have regular repeats on Gold and occasional repeats on BBC One.
It has a slow start but after the 1996 “Time On Our Hands” episode, the show became consistent in achieving high ratings. Mentioned episode also have the record for the highest UK audience for a sitcom episode with 24.3 million viewers which is over a third of the population that time. The series won myriad of awards including recognition from BAFTA, the Royal Television Society and National Television Awards, and was even nominated in 2004 BBC poll's Britain's Best Sitcom.
It also had significance on British culture with several words and phrases contributions to the English language. It generated a broad range of merchandise, from books to DVDs, toys and even board games. A spin-off series ''The Green Green Grass'' was also created which has four series in the Uk from 2005 to 2009 and a prequel ''Rock & Chips'' with three specials in 2010 nd 2011. BBC recently annouced that the 2014 edition of its ''Sport Relief'' will start brodcasting on March 21 of this year which features a new Only Fools and Horses sketch.
